Biography
About
Qiaona Yu, PhD, is an Associate Professor of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Wake Forest University, North Carolina, USA. Qiaona earned her PhD in Chinese Linguistics and Pedagogy at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, and her MA in Chinese Linguistics and Philology from Peking University. Qiaona's research specialises in second language acquisition, task-based language education, language for specific purposes, and cognitive linguistics. She is particularly interested in defining and assessing translingual and transcultural competence. Qiaona has published first author manuscripts in Applied Linguistics and Global Business Languages. She reviews for Language Learning, System and the ACTFL Convention proposals.
