Biography

About

Dr Michael Haugh is a Senior Lecturer in Linguistics and International English in the School of Languages and Linguistics at Griffith University. He has previously taught English and Japanese at schools and universities in Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Taiwan. Michael's research interests include pragmatics and intercultural communication. He has published numerous articles on topics in pragmatics, a number of edited volumes on face and politeness, and is the author of a number of forthcoming books including The Pragmatics of the English Language (Palgrave Macmillan, co-authored with Jonathan Culpeper), Revisiting Communicative Competence (Cambridge Scholars Press), and Understanding Politeness (Cambridge University Press, co-authored with Dániel Kádár).
